Kate reunites with an old friend when her boyfriend spends too much time working during their vacation.
Kate (Helfer), a driven accounting executive, heads to Cancun with her boyfriend Eric, an equally ambitious land development executive, for some much-needed rest and relaxation. But the getaway they agreed would be 90 percent romance and just 10 percent work becomes anything but that. Upon arrival, Eric learns a prominent real estate developer is a guest in their resort. Wanting to seize the opportunity for potential business, Eric chases this new venture and leaves Kate to her own devices time and again. Luckily, Shep (Campbell), the resort's activities director, is an old friend of Kate's from her camp counselor days and more than willing to help fill her solo hours with fun and adventure. As the old friends spend more time together and reconnect, Kate is reminded of dreams she used to have and finds herself wondering if it's time to change course.
Kate Mitchell, a senior staff member with a New York publishing firm, is going on a Cancun vacation with her boyfriend of one year, Eric, who works for a development firm. Despite both being workaholics, Kate is hoping that this vacation is ninety percent romance with Eric, and ten percent work, that ten percent as Kate has to prepare a presentation due during their stay in Cancun, it which could very well make or break her chances at the Senior Vice-President of Marketing job she is so wanting. That promotion is a far cry from the reason she got a job with the firm in the first place, which was to infiltrate the creative side of the company as her initial dream was to write children's books. Kate is hoping and somewhat expecting that Eric will pop the question on this vacation to mark their one year anniversary. At the five-star resort at which they are staying, Kate runs into Michael Shephard - Shep - the resort's activity director, he who she has not seen in twenty years when they were both teenaged counselors at the same camp three summers running. Shep chucked in a career as a lawyer for such jobs at various resorts, he moving on on average once a year. He is well liked and well respected by his staff, his bosses and the resort guests, he given much of the credit for the resorts' successes. As Kate and Eric's vacation turns into being more ninety percent work and ten percent romance, largely due to Eric meeting and networking with successful developer Gus Van Houtten at the resort, Kate and Shep get reacquainted, and start to fall for each other as Shep reminds Kate of her dreams when she was younger, those dreams from which she is straying. As such, Kate has to decide if Eric is still the man of her future, regardless of if he pops the question. Conversely, Shep has to decide if he will let a woman into his carefree existence, he having chosen this life of no roots and no personal commitments for a reason.
